2024 Acura Integra - Steering Pulls to the Right, Uneven Tire Wear

Vehicle: 2024 Acura Integra A-Spec with Technology Package

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a new 2024 Acura Integra A-Spec with Technology Package, and I've only put about 7,000 miles on it. I've noticed that the car consistently pulls to the right, even on flat roads. I have to constantly correct the steering wheel to keep it going straight, which is really annoying for a brand new car.

I also checked my front tires, and it looks like the outer edge of the passenger side tire is showing more wear than the driver's side. This definitely points to an alignment issue, but I'm surprised it's happening so soon on a new vehicle. I haven't hit any major potholes or curbs.

Has anyone with a new Integra experienced a similar steering pull or alignment problem? What was the cause, and how was it resolved? I'm planning to take it to the dealer, but I'd like to have some information beforehand.

Hi Emily,

It's certainly frustrating to experience a steering pull and uneven tire wear on a brand new 2024 Acura Integra, especially with only 7,000 miles on it. You're right to suspect an alignment issue, and it's something that should be addressed promptly, especially since it's under warranty.

Here are the most common reasons for a vehicle to pull to one side and exhibit uneven tire wear:

  1. Wheel Alignment: This is the most probable cause. Even new vehicles can sometimes leave the factory with slightly off alignment, or it can shift slightly during initial break-in. A proper four-wheel alignment adjusts the camber, caster, and toe angles of your wheels.
    • Toe: If the toe-in or toe-out is incorrect, it will cause the tires to scrub, leading to rapid and uneven wear (often on the inner or outer edges) and a steering pull.
    • Camber: Incorrect camber (the vertical tilt of the wheel) can also cause a pull and uneven wear on one side of the tire.
    • Caster: This angle affects steering stability and return-to-center. Incorrect caster can cause a pull to one side.
  2. Tire Issues:
    • Tire Conicity/Radial Pull: Sometimes, a tire itself can have an internal defect that causes it to pull to one side. This is known as radial pull or conicity. A technician can swap tires front-to-back or side-to-side to diagnose this.
    • Uneven Tire Pressure: While less likely to cause significant uneven wear in 7,000 miles, consistently low pressure on one side can cause a pull.
  3. Worn or Damaged Suspension Components: Although highly unlikely on a 2024 model with low mileage, a manufacturing defect or damage during transport could lead to a faulty control arm, ball joint, or strut that affects alignment.
  4. Brake Drag: A caliper that isn't fully releasing on one side can cause a slight drag, leading to a pull and potentially uneven brake pad wear, but usually not significant tire wear at this mileage.

When to See a Shop:

You should take your 2024 Acura Integra to the dealership immediately. Since it's a new vehicle under warranty, this issue should be covered. Explain the consistent pull to the right and show them the uneven tire wear on the passenger side front tire. The dealership will:

  • Perform a comprehensive four-wheel alignment check using specialized equipment.
  • Inspect all suspension components for any signs of damage or manufacturing defects.
  • Check tire pressures and inspect the tires for any internal defects.
  • If an alignment corrects the issue, they should perform it under warranty. If a defective component or tire is found, it should also be replaced under warranty.

Addressing this quickly will prevent further tire wear and ensure your vehicle handles as it should.
