Frequently asked questions

Accounts & email verification

Do I need an account? No — you can read guides and codes without signing in. An account lets you follow shops, comment (where enabled), and manage purchases.

Why must I verify my email? Verification protects your account and enables password reset and shop notifications. Check your inbox and spam folder for the confirmation link. You can request a new link from the login page or under Account → Password & security.

Repair guides & search

How do I find a guide for my car? Use the search bar on any page, open Guides, and filter by make, model, year, or system (engine, electrical, etc.).

Why do counts show thousands but I only see one page? Lists are paginated (default 50 per page). Use Next/Previous and change “Per page” to 25, 50, 75, or 100.

Community forums

How are forums organized? By US-market vehicle make (Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet, etc.). Each make has six topic areas: Diagnostics & codes, Engine & drivetrain, Brakes & suspension, Electrical & electronics, Maintenance & DIY, and Buying & ownership. Browse forums.

Do I get notified of replies? Yes — thread authors and participants receive alerts in the header notification bell and by email (you can turn categories off under Notifications).

What is not allowed? See Forum policies. AI moderation blocks spam, off-topic, and unsafe content before it publishes.

Shops & creators

What is a shop? A public page where a mechanic or creator publishes guides and builds followers. See How to run a shop.

How do I open a shop? Sign in, go to Open a shop, set your expertise filters, and start publishing (subject to moderation where applicable).

Orders & payments

Shop merchandise checkout may use Stripe where enabled. Order status appears under Account → Purchase history and in your notification center (shipped, delivered, etc.). Refund and delivery rules are in our Terms.
