Vehicle: 2023 Acura Integra Base

Hi all,

I'm having some frustrating issues with the infotainment system in my 2023 Acura Integra Base model. The screen frequently freezes, becoming unresponsive to touch, and sometimes it just goes completely black for a few seconds before restarting itself. It's really annoying, especially when I'm trying to use navigation or change music.

On top of that, my Apple CarPlay connection keeps dropping. I've tried multiple cables, restarted my phone, and even done a factory reset on the infotainment system, but the problem persists. It will connect, work for a bit, and then suddenly disconnect without warning.

Is anyone else experiencing these kinds of glitches with their Integra's infotainment? Could it be a software bug, or something more serious? Any tips on how to fix this would be great!

ClearTheCode admin answer:

  1. Software Update: The most common cause for infotainment glitches is outdated software. Acura frequently releases updates that address bugs, improve stability, and enhance connectivity. Your dealership can check for and install the latest software version for your infotainment system.
  2. System Reset: While you've tried a factory reset, sometimes a deeper system reset might be needed. This is typically performed by a technician and can clear persistent software conflicts.
  3. Cable Quality (for CarPlay): Even if you've tried multiple cables, ensure they are MFi-certified (Made for iPhone) and in excellent condition. Generic or damaged cables are a frequent cause of intermittent CarPlay issues.
  4. Phone Software: Ensure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version. Outdated phone software can sometimes create compatibility problems with vehicle infotainment systems.
  5. Check USB Port: Inspect the USB port in your Integra for any debris or damage that might be interfering with the connection.

Common Causes:

  • Infotainment software bugs.
  • Corrupted system files.
  • Issues with the USB port or cable (for wired CarPlay).
  • Compatibility issues between phone and vehicle software.

When to See a Shop: If the freezing and CarPlay disconnections continue after checking your phone and cables, schedule an appointment with your Acura dealership. These issues can be disruptive and potentially indicate a fault with the head unit itself or its internal components. The technician can run diagnostics, check for TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) related to these problems, and perform any necessary software updates or hardware replacements for your 2023 Acura Integra Base.
