Vehicle: 2025 Acura Integra Type S

Hello Integra community,

I just got my 2025 Acura Integra Type S a few months ago, and I'm already hearing a pretty concerning clunking noise from the front end. It happens specifically when I go over speed bumps, potholes, or any uneven road surfaces. It's a distinct, loud clunk, almost like something is loose.

It's definitely coming from the front suspension area, and it's present on both sides, though sometimes it seems more pronounced on the driver's side. The car drives fine otherwise, no pulling or steering issues, but the sound is really bothering me, especially on a brand new performance car.

Has anyone with a new Integra, especially the Type S, experienced anything similar? What could be causing this? I'm thinking of taking it to the dealer, but wanted to see if there are any common culprits I should be aware of.

ClearTheCode admin answer:

  1. Inspect Suspension Components: A clunking noise over bumps often points to worn or loose suspension components. Common culprits include sway bar end links, control arm bushings, strut mounts, or even loose caliper bolts.
  2. Check Torque Specifications: On a newer vehicle, it's possible that a suspension component was not torqued to specification during assembly or a previous service. A technician can inspect and re-torque critical fasteners.
  3. Brake Components: Less commonly, loose brake calipers or pads can sometimes create a clunking sound, especially if they shift slightly when the suspension articulates.
  4. Steering Components: While less likely if there's no steering play, issues with tie rod ends or steering rack mounts can also manifest as front-end noises.

Common Causes:

  • Loose or worn sway bar end links or bushings.
  • Worn or defective control arm bushings.
  • Damaged or loose strut mounts.
  • Loose wheel bearings (though usually accompanied by a hum).
  • Defective or improperly installed suspension components from the factory.

When to See a Shop: Any unusual noise from the suspension, especially a clunk, should be inspected promptly by a qualified technician. Suspension issues can affect handling, tire wear, and overall safety. Since your 2025 Acura Integra Type S is new, this issue should be covered under warranty. Schedule an appointment with your Acura dealership, describe the noise precisely (when it occurs, what kind of sound it is), and if possible, offer to take a test drive with a technician to demonstrate the problem.
