Vehicle: 2024 Acura Integra A-Spec w/ Technology Package

Hi everyone,

I've been hearing a persistent rattling noise from the front end of my 2024 Acura Integra A-Spec with Technology Package. It's most noticeable when I go over small bumps, uneven pavement, or speed bumps at low speeds. It sounds like something is loose.

The car only has about 8,000 miles on it, so I'm a bit concerned. It doesn't seem to affect handling, but the noise is definitely there and quite annoying. Has anyone else experienced this with their new Integra? What could it be?

ClearTheCode admin answer:

A rattling noise from the front suspension, even on a relatively new vehicle, can indicate a few different issues. While it might not immediately affect handling, it's important to get it checked to prevent further wear or potential safety concerns.

Common causes for front suspension rattles include:

  1. Sway Bar Links (End Links): These small rods connect the sway bar to the suspension. Worn or loose end links are a very common source of clunking or rattling noises over bumps.
  2. Loose or Worn Bushings: Various bushings in the suspension (control arm bushings, strut mount bushings) can wear out or become loose, leading to metal-on-metal contact or excessive movement.
  3. Strut Mounts/Bearings: The top mount of the strut assembly can wear, especially the bearing, causing noise when the suspension moves or when turning the steering wheel.
  4. Loose Calipers or Brake Components: Sometimes, a loose brake caliper or pad can rattle over bumps. This is less common but worth checking.
  5. Ball Joints: Worn ball joints in the control arms can also cause clunking noises.
  6. Foreign Objects: Occasionally, a loose rock or debris can get lodged in a suspension component or underbody shield, creating a rattling sound.

When to See a Shop: Since your 2024 Integra is still under warranty and has low mileage, you should take it to your Acura dealership immediately. Do not delay, as suspension issues can worsen over time. Explain the conditions under which the noise occurs (e.g., low speed, small bumps, specific side of the car if you can tell).

The dealership technicians will:

  • Perform a thorough visual inspection of all front suspension components.
  • Check for any loose bolts, worn bushings, or damaged parts.
  • Perform a 'shake test' to identify play in ball joints, tie rods, and wheel bearings.
  • Test drive the vehicle to replicate the noise and confirm the diagnosis.

Addressing this early will ensure your safety and maintain the longevity of your suspension components. There are no OBD codes associated with mechanical suspension noises.
