Vehicle: 2022 Acura NSX Base

Hey everyone,

I'm having some frustrating issues with the infotainment system in my 2022 Acura NSX. It seems to freeze up randomly, sometimes for a few seconds, and then occasionally it will just completely restart itself. This happens whether I'm using Apple CarPlay, the built-in navigation, or just listening to the radio.

When it freezes, the screen becomes unresponsive, and I can't change anything. When it restarts, it takes a minute or so to boot back up, which is really annoying, especially if I'm relying on navigation. My car is relatively new, with only 7,000 miles.

Has anyone else experienced these kinds of infotainment glitches with their newer NSX models? Is there a known software bug or a simple reset procedure I can try before taking it to the dealer? Any help would be appreciated!

ClearTheCode admin answer:

Infotainment system glitches, such as freezing or random restarts, are not uncommon in modern vehicles, including your 2022 Acura NSX. These issues can be frustrating but often have straightforward solutions:

  1. Perform a Master Reset: Many infotainment systems have a factory reset option within their settings menu. This can often resolve software-related glitches by clearing temporary data and resetting settings to default. Consult your owner's manual for the exact procedure.
  2. Check for Software Updates: Manufacturers frequently release software updates for infotainment systems to address bugs and improve performance. Visit an Acura dealership or check Acura's owner website (if applicable) to see if there's a newer software version available for your vehicle.
  3. Inspect Connections: While less common in newer vehicles, a loose or faulty wiring connection to the infotainment head unit can cause intermittent power loss or data transfer issues. This is usually something a technician would check.
  4. USB Device Interference: If you frequently use USB drives for media or charging, ensure they are not corrupted or causing interference. Try removing all external USB devices and see if the problem persists.
  5. Hardware Failure: In some cases, the head unit itself or an internal component (like a memory chip) might be failing. This would require replacement of the unit.

When to See a Shop:

If a master reset or software update doesn't resolve the issue, or if the problem becomes more frequent and severe, it's best to schedule an appointment with your Acura dealership. They have specialized diagnostic tools to check for internal system errors, perform deeper software diagnostics, and determine if a hardware component needs to be replaced under warranty.
