Hey everyone, I've got a 2018 Acura TLX V6 with the 9-speed automatic, just hit 60,000 miles. I'm wondering about the transmission fluid. The maintenance minder hasn't popped up for it yet, but I've heard varying opinions on when to change it, especially with the 9-speed.

Is it still recommended to do the 3x3 flush method for these newer transmissions? And what's the correct fluid type? I want to make sure I'm using the right stuff to keep it running smoothly. Any DIY tips or things to watch out for would be great!

Summary: For 2018 Acura TLX V6 Transmission Fluid Change Interval & Type, work through these steps on your 2016+ vehicle:

  1. Confirm the symptom — note when it happens (cold start, highway, after fuel fill, etc.).
  2. Scan codes — save all pending/stored DTCs; don't clear until you've recorded them.
  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
  5. Test the common fix — follow model-specific service procedures; one change at a time.
  6. Escalate if needed — burning smell, no brakes, overheating, or stalling in traffic → shop visit.
