2022 Polestar 2 - AC Charging Intermittent or Very Slow

Hey everyone,

I'm having some frustrating issues with my 2022 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor when trying to charge on Level 2 AC chargers. Sometimes it charges incredibly slowly, like 2-3 kW when it should be pulling 11 kW. Other times, it just won't initiate charging at all, even though the charger itself seems fine and other EVs can use it.

I've tried different charging stations and even a friend's home charger, but the problem persists. I've also checked the charging cable for any visible damage, and it looks okay. It's really inconvenient, especially when I'm relying on overnight charging.

Has anyone else experienced this with their Polestar 2? Could it be something with the car's onboard charger, or maybe a sensor issue? I've checked the charging schedule in the car, and everything seems set correctly. Any advice before I have to take it into the service center would be greatly appreciated!

Summary: For 2022 Polestar 2 - AC Charging Intermittent or Very Slow, work through these steps on your 2016+ vehicle:

  1. Confirm the symptom — note when it happens (cold start, highway, after fuel fill, etc.).
  2. Scan codes — save all pending/stored DTCs; don't clear until you've recorded them.
  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
  5. Test the common fix — follow model-specific service procedures; one change at a time.
  6. Escalate if needed — burning smell, no brakes, overheating, or stalling in traffic → shop visit.
