Vehicle: 2024 Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor

Hi everyone,

I just got my new 2024 Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor a few weeks ago, and I'm already seeing an issue with the air suspension. A warning light came on yesterday, and I've noticed the car isn't leveling correctly. The front end seems a bit lower than the rear, and the ride feels noticeably bouncier than it did before.

I haven't hit any major potholes or anything that would cause damage. Is this a common problem with new Polestar 3s, or air suspension systems in general? I'm pretty disappointed to have this happen so soon after purchase.

Has anyone experienced this with their Polestar 3 or other Polestar models? What was the diagnosis and fix? Any insights would be helpful.

It's definitely frustrating to encounter an issue with a brand new vehicle, especially with a critical system like the air suspension. Here's what could be happening with your 2024 Polestar 3:

Potential Causes for Air Suspension Issues:

  1. Air Leak: The most common cause of uneven ride height and a warning light in an air suspension system is a leak. This could be in an air spring (air bag), an air line, or a fitting. A small leak might cause the system to work harder, leading to the compressor running more often, while a larger leak will result in noticeable sagging.
  2. Air Compressor Failure: The air compressor is responsible for supplying air to the springs. If it's failing or has completely stopped working, the system won't be able to maintain the correct pressure and ride height. This can manifest as the vehicle slowly dropping or not rising to the correct level.
  3. Ride Height Sensor Malfunction: Each corner of the vehicle has a ride height sensor that tells the control module the current vehicle height. If a sensor is faulty, it can send incorrect readings, causing the system to misinterpret the required height and leading to uneven leveling.
  4. Valve Block Issues: The valve block controls the distribution of air to each air spring. If a valve is stuck open or closed, it can prevent air from reaching or leaving a specific air spring, causing one corner to sag or remain inflated.
  5. Software Glitch: While less common for physical sagging, a software error in the air suspension control module could cause incorrect operation or trigger a false warning light. A diagnostic scan would confirm this.

Common OBD Codes (if scanned):

  • C1XXX Codes: These typically relate to chassis systems. For air suspension, you might see codes like C1130 (Air Suspension Compressor Fault), C1131 (Air Spring Pressure Sensor Fault), C1132 (Ride Height Sensor Fault), or codes indicating a leak in a specific air spring.

When to See a Shop:

  • Immediately: Given that your vehicle is brand new and experiencing a warning light and noticeable ride height issues, it is imperative to contact your Polestar service center immediately. Driving with a compromised air suspension can affect handling, braking, and overall safety. Do not attempt to diagnose or repair this yourself, as it's under warranty. Document the issue with photos if possible and provide all details to the service technicians. They will perform a diagnostic scan and physical inspection to pinpoint the exact cause.
