2018 Audi S4 B9 DSG Fluid Change - DIY or Dealer?

Hey everyone, my 2018 Audi S4 Premium Plus is coming up on 40k miles, and I know the DSG (S-Tronic) transmission fluid service is due. I've heard it's a pretty involved process with specific temperature requirements for filling.

I'm usually pretty handy with maintenance, but this one seems a bit more complex than an oil change. Has anyone here done the DSG service themselves on a B9 S4? What special tools did you need, and how difficult was it?

Alternatively, what kind of costs should I expect if I take it to an independent Audi specialist or the dealership? Just trying to weigh my options and make sure it's done right.

Summary: For 2018 Audi S4 B9 DSG Fluid Change - DIY or Dealer?, work through these steps on your 2016+ vehicle:

  1. Confirm the symptom — note when it happens (cold start, highway, after fuel fill, etc.).
  2. Scan codes — save all pending/stored DTCs; don't clear until you've recorded them.
  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
  5. Test the common fix — follow model-specific service procedures; one change at a time.
  6. Escalate if needed — burning smell, no brakes, overheating, or stalling in traffic → shop visit.
