Vehicle: 2022 Cadillac Escalade Sport Platinum

Hey everyone,

I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2022 Cadillac Escalade Sport Platinum. The remote start has completely stopped working, and sometimes when I try to start the car with the push-button, I get a 'No Remote Detected' message, even though the key fob is right there in the cup holder. I've replaced the battery in both key fobs, but it hasn't made any difference.

The key fobs still lock and unlock the doors, but the range seems to be much shorter than it used to be. Could this be an issue with the vehicle's antenna, or perhaps a module that handles the keyless entry and remote start functions? It's really annoying, especially in the cold mornings.

Has anyone else with a newer Escalade experienced this? What was the fix? Thanks for any help!

ClearTheCode admin answer:

Issues with remote start and 'No Remote Detected' messages in your 2022 Cadillac Escalade point to a problem within the vehicle's keyless entry and ignition system, which involves several electrical and electronic components.

  1. Key Fob Battery (Already Checked): While you've replaced the batteries, it's always the first step. Ensure they are high-quality batteries and correctly installed.
  2. Keyless Entry Antenna/Receiver: The vehicle has multiple antennas that receive signals from the key fob. If one of these antennas (e.g., in the roof, rear bumper, or inside the cabin) is faulty or has a wiring issue, it can lead to reduced range or intermittent detection problems. This is a common cause for your symptoms.
  3. Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) Module: This module is responsible for receiving and processing signals from the key fobs. A fault within the RCDLR module itself can cause all the symptoms you're experiencing, including remote start failure and detection issues.
  4. Body Control Module (BCM): The BCM is the central hub for many body electrical functions, including communication with the RCDLR. A BCM fault or software glitch could indirectly affect key fob recognition and remote start.
  5. Wiring Issues: Damaged, corroded, or loose wiring between the antennas, RCDLR, and BCM can disrupt communication and power, leading to system malfunctions.
  6. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs): The vehicle's system will likely store specific DTCs related to keyless entry, remote start, or communication issues. Examples might include:
    • B3101: Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter Low Battery (though you've replaced them)
    • B3105: Remote Keyless Entry Receiver Performance
    • U0140: Lost Communication With Body Control Module (if BCM is involved)

When to See a Shop:

Given that you've already replaced the key fob batteries, this issue requires professional diagnosis. A Cadillac dealership or a specialized automotive electrical shop will have the necessary diagnostic tools to scan all relevant modules (RCDLR, BCM, etc.), check antenna signal strength, and pinpoint the exact component causing the problem. They can also check for any software updates for these modules that might resolve the issue.
