Hey everyone, I've got a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 5.3L V8, with about 85,000 miles on it. Lately, I've noticed some really rough shifts, especially between 2nd and 3rd gear, and sometimes a slight delay engaging reverse. It's an 8-speed automatic.

I'm wondering if it's time for a transmission fluid change or flush. I haven't had it done yet, and the owner's manual suggests inspecting it at 45,000 miles and changing it under severe conditions. I do a fair bit of towing.

Has anyone experienced this with their Silverado? What's the recommended procedure? Should I just drain and fill, or go for a full flush? Also, no check engine light yet, but I'm worried it might pop up soon.

  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
