Vehicle: 2017 Ford Explorer XLT
I'm experiencing some really rough shifting in my 2017 Ford Explorer XLT, 3.5L V6, especially noticeable when going from 1st to 2nd gear. It feels like a hard jolt or a 'clunk' sometimes, and it's starting to get worse. It's most prominent when the engine is cold, but it still happens when warmed up, just less aggressively.
I haven't seen any check engine lights come on yet, and there are no codes when I run my basic OBD-II scanner. The car has about 70,000 miles on it. I'm worried this might be a transmission issue. Has anyone else with a similar Explorer experienced this? What could be causing this harsh shift?
Is there anything I can check myself before taking it to a transmission shop? I've heard about transmission fluid levels, but I'm not sure if that's something I can easily check on this model.
