Vehicle: 2022 Honda Accord Sport

Hey everyone,

I'm having an issue with my 2022 Honda Accord Sport. It's only got about 25,000 miles on it, and recently it's started pulling noticeably to the right. It's not a severe pull, but I have to constantly correct the steering wheel to keep it straight. Also, the steering feels a bit looser than it used to, almost like there's a slight delay in response.

I haven't hit any major potholes or curbs that I can recall. The tires look fine, no obvious uneven wear, but I haven't measured them precisely. Could this be an alignment issue, or something more serious with the steering components?

Any thoughts or similar experiences with newer Accords? I'm hoping it's an easy fix.

A vehicle pulling to one side and exhibiting a loose steering feel on a relatively new car like your 2022 Honda Accord Sport can be concerning. Here are the most common causes:

  1. Wheel Alignment Issues:

    • Cause: This is the most frequent reason for a vehicle pulling. Even minor impacts or normal wear can throw off the alignment angles (camber, caster, toe), causing the car to drift.
    • Action: A professional alignment shop can perform a four-wheel alignment to correct the angles. This is often the first step in diagnosing a pull.
  2. Uneven Tire Wear or Tire Pressure:

    • Cause: Uneven tire wear, or simply incorrect tire pressure (especially low pressure on one side), can cause a vehicle to pull. Radial pull, where a tire's internal construction causes it to pull, is also possible.
    • Action: Check and adjust all tire pressures to the manufacturer's specifications. Inspect tires for uneven wear patterns. Try rotating the tires to see if the pull changes or disappears.
  3. Worn or Damaged Suspension Components:

    • Cause: Components like control arm bushings, ball joints, or tie rod ends, even on a newer vehicle, can wear prematurely or be damaged, leading to excessive play and affecting steering stability.
    • Action: A mechanic will inspect these components for play or damage. Any worn parts will need replacement.
  4. Brake Drag:

    • Cause: A caliper that isn't fully releasing on one side can cause constant, subtle brake drag, leading to a pull in that direction.
    • Action: Check if one wheel feels hotter than the others after a drive, or if there's any unusual brake dust. A mechanic can inspect the calipers for proper function.

When to See a Shop: While checking tire pressure is a good first step, a persistent pull and loose steering feel warrant a professional inspection. An alignment shop can perform a comprehensive check of your suspension and steering components, as well as the alignment itself. Addressing these issues promptly will restore proper handling, prevent premature tire wear, and ensure your safety.
