Vehicle: 2022 Infiniti QX50 Sensory

Hello Infiniti community,

I'm experiencing some weird electrical glitches with my 2022 Infiniti QX50 Sensory. The parking sensors, both front and rear, have started acting up. They'll either beep constantly when there's nothing around, or fail to detect obstacles altogether. On top of that, the Blind Spot Warning (BSW) light on the dashboard has been staying on intermittently, even when there's no vehicle in my blind spot.

I've tried cleaning the sensor areas on the bumpers, thinking it might be dirt or debris, but that hasn't helped. It feels like a sensor or module issue rather than just a dirty lens. Has anyone else with a newer QX50 run into these kinds of problems? Could it be a wiring issue, or perhaps a faulty sensor module?

This is a safety concern, and I'd like to get it sorted out quickly. Any insights would be appreciated!

Malfunctioning parking sensors and persistent Blind Spot Warning (BSW) lights on a newer vehicle like your 2022 QX50 often point to issues with the advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) sensors or their control modules. Here's what could be happening:

  1. Sensor Obstruction/Damage: While you cleaned them, even a minor misalignment, a small crack, or internal damage to a sensor (ultrasonic for parking, radar for BSW) can cause erratic behavior. Sometimes, a very subtle impact can shift a sensor.
  2. Wiring Harness Issues: Damaged or corroded wiring leading to the sensors or their control modules can disrupt communication. This is less common on newer vehicles but can happen due to rodent damage or manufacturing defects.
  3. Control Module Malfunction: The Parking Aid Module or the Blind Spot Monitor Control Module (often located in the rear bumper area) could be faulty. These modules interpret the sensor data and communicate with the vehicle's main computer.
  4. Calibration Issues: After certain repairs or even minor impacts, ADAS sensors sometimes require recalibration. If a sensor's alignment is off, it can misinterpret its surroundings.
  5. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs): These types of issues almost always generate specific diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) within the vehicle's BCM (Body Control Module) or specific ADAS modules. Examples might include:
    • B2200: Radar Sensor Malfunction (common for BSW)
    • B2201: Ultrasonic Sensor Malfunction (common for parking sensors)
    • U0100/U0121: Lost Communication with a specific module.

When to See a Shop: Given that these are safety-critical systems and involve complex ADAS components, it's highly recommended to take your QX50 to an Infiniti dealership or a specialized automotive electronics shop. They have the necessary diagnostic scan tools to read manufacturer-specific B-codes (Body codes) and U-codes (Network codes) that standard OBD-II scanners might miss. They can accurately pinpoint which sensor or module is at fault and perform any necessary repairs, replacements, or recalibrations.
