2018 Grand Cherokee Summit - Pulsating Brakes After Rotor Replacement

Hey everyone, I'm having a frustrating issue with my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. About a month ago, I replaced the front rotors and pads myself because I was getting a pulsation when braking. Everything seemed fine for a bit, but now the pulsation is back, maybe even worse than before.

It's most noticeable when braking from highway speeds, but I can feel it even at lower speeds now. The steering wheel shakes a bit too. I made sure to clean the hubs thoroughly before installing the new rotors.

Could I have gotten a bad set of rotors, or is there something else I should be looking at? Any advice on what to check next would be greatly appreciated!

Summary: For 2018 Grand Cherokee Summit - Pulsating Brakes After Rotor Replacement, work through these steps on your 2016+ vehicle:

  1. Confirm the symptom — note when it happens (cold start, highway, after fuel fill, etc.).
  2. Scan codes — save all pending/stored DTCs; don't clear until you've recorded them.
  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
  5. Test the common fix — follow model-specific service procedures; one change at a time.
  6. Escalate if needed — burning smell, no brakes, overheating, or stalling in traffic → shop visit.
