2018 RX 350 Rough Shifting / Hesitation - Is this normal?

My 2018 Lexus RX 350 F Sport, with about 60,000 miles, has started to feel really clunky when shifting, especially at lower speeds or when downshifting. Sometimes it feels like it hesitates before engaging a gear, almost like a slight delay.

It's an 8-speed automatic transmission. I've noticed it more in stop-and-go traffic, and it's becoming quite noticeable. It wasn't like this when I first got the car.

Is this a known issue with these transmissions, or with the 2GR-FKS engine paired with it? I'm worried it's a sign of something serious, and I'd like to know if others have experienced this before I take it to the dealer.

  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.

  6. Escalate if needed — burning smell, no brakes, overheating, or stalling in traffic → shop visit.
