Vehicle: 2019 Lexus NX 300 F Sport

My 2019 Lexus NX 300 F Sport is having some electrical issues with the driver's door. The power window on the driver's side stopped working completely yesterday – no response from the switch. All other windows work fine.

Also, sometimes when I try to lock or unlock the car using the remote or the door handle sensor, the driver's door doesn't respond right away, or it takes a second try. It feels like these two issues might be related.

Could this be a fuse, or something more involved like the master switch or a wiring harness inside the door?

  1. Check Fuses: Start by checking the relevant fuses in the fuse box (usually located under the hood and/or inside the cabin, often near the driver's footwell). Consult your owner's manual for the exact fuse locations for the power windows and door locks. A blown fuse for the driver's window is a common and easy fix.
  2. Inspect Wiring in Door Jamb: Open the driver's door and carefully inspect the rubber boot that covers the wiring harness running from the door frame into the door. Over time, repeated opening and closing of the door can cause wires within this harness to fray, break, or short circuit. This is a very common point of failure for door-related electrical issues.
  3. Test Master Window Switch: The driver's side master window switch controls all windows and often the door locks. If only the driver's window is affected and other door locks are glitchy, a faulty master switch assembly is a strong possibility. You can sometimes test this by trying to operate the driver's window from the passenger side (if equipped with a global window control) or by swapping the master switch with a known good one (if available).
  4. Listen for Motor: If you press the window switch, listen closely for any sound from inside the door. No sound could indicate a power issue (fuse, wiring, switch) or a dead motor. A clicking sound might suggest the motor is trying but failing, or a mechanical obstruction.

Potential Causes:

  • Blown Fuse: Simple and common.
  • Damaged Wiring Harness: In the door jamb or inside the door panel.
  • Faulty Master Window Switch: The control unit itself.
  • Bad Window Motor/Regulator: If power is reaching the motor but it's not moving.
  • Faulty Door Latch Actuator: For the door lock specific issue, though it could be related to the wiring from the master switch.

When to See a Shop: If the fuse is good and you don't find obvious wiring damage, diagnosing and repairing door electrical issues often requires removing the door panel, which can be tricky without the right tools to avoid damaging clips. A professional mechanic or auto electrician can quickly diagnose whether it's the switch, wiring, or motor, and replace the faulty component efficiently. Addressing this promptly prevents further inconvenience and potential exposure to weather elements if the window is stuck open.
