Vehicle: 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring

Hey everyone,

I'm experiencing some concerning issues with the air suspension on my 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring. Lately, I've noticed that the front passenger side seems to be sitting lower than the driver's side, especially after the car has been parked overnight. It eventually levels out once I start driving, but it takes a few minutes.

Another symptom is that the air compressor seems to be running much more frequently than it used to, even when the car is just sitting there or after a short drive. I can hear it cycling on and off, which is new. There aren't any obvious warning lights on the dash, but the ride quality feels a bit off sometimes, a little bouncier.

Has anyone else with a Lucid Air, particularly a 2022 model, encountered similar problems? I'm wondering if it's a common issue or something more serious. Any advice on what to check before heading to the service center would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you're dealing with a classic air suspension issue, Sarah. Uneven ride height and frequent compressor cycling on your 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring typically point to a few common culprits. Here's what's likely happening and what to do:

  1. Air Leak in the System:

    • Causes: The most common reason for sagging and frequent compressor use is a leak in the air suspension system. This could be in an air spring (air bag), an air line, or a fitting. The system constantly tries to compensate for the lost air, leading to the compressor working overtime.
    • Diagnostics: A technician will typically use a soapy water solution to spray suspected leak points (air springs, connections, valve block) to look for bubbles. They may also check for error codes related to suspension pressure or height sensor discrepancies.
  2. Failing Air Suspension Compressor:

    • Causes: While less likely to cause sagging on one side specifically, a weak or failing compressor might struggle to maintain pressure, leading to it running constantly. If it's not building pressure efficiently, the system might not level correctly.
    • Diagnostics: A shop can test the compressor's output pressure and current draw to determine its health.
  3. Height Sensor Malfunction:

    • Causes: Each corner of your Lucid Air has a height sensor that tells the suspension control module the vehicle's current ride height. If one of these sensors is faulty or miscalibrated, it might incorrectly report the height, causing the system to over-inflate or under-inflate that specific corner.
    • Diagnostics: Diagnostic tools can read live data from the height sensors to check for inconsistent readings. A common OBD-II related code for suspension issues might be something like C0575 (Left Front Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction) or similar codes indicating a problem with a specific height sensor or the suspension control module.

When to See a Shop: Given that your 2022 Lucid Air is a relatively new and sophisticated vehicle, and air suspension issues can impact safety and further damage components, it's highly recommended to schedule a service appointment with a Lucid service center as soon as possible. They have the specialized diagnostic tools and expertise to accurately pinpoint the problem and perform the necessary repairs. Driving with a compromised suspension can affect handling, braking, and tire wear.
