Vehicle: 2024 Lucid Air Touring

Hello Lucid owners,

I recently noticed a warning light for the air suspension system illuminate on my dashboard in my 2024 Lucid Air Touring. To make matters worse, the car seems to be sitting noticeably lower on the passenger side front, and the ride quality has become quite harsh and bouncy.

I haven't hit any major potholes or had any incidents. I'm really concerned about driving it like this. Has anyone else experienced an air suspension issue with their newer Lucid Air model? What could be causing this, and is it safe to drive to the service center?

An illuminated air suspension warning light combined with visible sagging and degraded ride quality in your 2024 Lucid Air Touring indicates a significant issue that needs immediate attention. Air suspension systems are complex and critical for ride comfort and handling.

  1. Air Leak: The most common cause of sagging is a leak in one of the air springs (also called air bags). Over time, rubber components can crack or seals can fail, allowing air to escape. This would cause one corner to drop.
  2. Compressor Failure: The air suspension compressor is responsible for pumping air into the springs. If it fails, it won't be able to maintain the correct ride height, and you might hear it running excessively or not at all.
  3. Sensor Malfunction: Height sensors at each wheel monitor the distance between the chassis and the road. If a sensor fails, it can send incorrect data to the suspension control module, leading to an incorrect ride height.
  4. Control Module Issue: The electronic control unit (ECU) for the air suspension system could be faulty, leading to incorrect operation of the components.
  5. Damaged Air Lines: The lines that carry air to the springs can become damaged, leading to leaks.

When to See a Shop: It is generally not recommended to drive your vehicle extensively with a severe air suspension malfunction, especially if one side is significantly lower. This can affect steering, braking, and potentially cause further damage to suspension components or tires. You should contact Lucid Roadside Assistance or have the vehicle towed to a service center immediately. They will use diagnostic tools to read fault codes (e.g., C-codes for chassis systems, like C1521 for 'Air Suspension Compressor Control Circuit Malfunction' or C1531 for 'Height Sensor Circuit Malfunction') to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem and perform the necessary repairs.
