Vehicle: 2025 Lucid Gravity Dream Edition

I recently got my 2025 Lucid Gravity Dream Edition, and I'm already seeing an issue with the air suspension. The "Air Suspension Service Required" message popped up on the display, and I've noticed the ride feels a bit off, sometimes dipping noticeably on one side, especially after sitting overnight. I haven't hit any major potholes or had any accidents.

Is this a common problem for the Gravity, or Lucid vehicles in general? What should I do when this message appears? I'm concerned about driving it if the suspension isn't working correctly.

ClearTheCode admin answer:

An "Air Suspension Service Required" message on your 2025 Lucid Gravity Dream Edition, especially when accompanied by uneven ride height, indicates a significant issue that needs prompt attention. Air suspension systems are complex and critical for ride comfort, handling, and safety.

Immediate Actions:

  1. Avoid Driving if Severe: If the vehicle is severely leaning or bottomed out, avoid driving it to prevent further damage to tires, suspension components, or the undercarriage.
  2. Visually Inspect: Check around each wheel for any obvious signs of damage to the air springs (air bellows), such as tears or cracks. Also, look for any visible leaks around the air lines.
  3. Check Tire Pressure: While not directly related to air suspension, incorrect tire pressure can sometimes mimic or exacerbate suspension issues.

Potential Causes:

  • Air Spring Leak: The most common cause of uneven ride height. A leak in one or more air springs (also known as air bags or bellows) will cause that corner of the vehicle to sag.
  • Air Compressor Failure: The compressor is responsible for pumping air into the system to maintain ride height. If it fails, the system won't be able to inflate the air springs.
  • Ride Height Sensor Malfunction: Sensors at each wheel measure the vehicle's height. If a sensor fails, it can send incorrect data to the suspension control module, leading to incorrect adjustments or fault codes.
  • Air Line Leak: Leaks in the air lines connecting the compressor to the air springs can also cause pressure loss and sagging.
  • Suspension Control Module (SCM) Fault: The SCM is the brain of the air suspension system. A software glitch or hardware failure in the module can cause system errors.

When to see a shop:

  • Immediately. Driving with a compromised air suspension can be unsafe, affect handling, and lead to accelerated wear on other components. Since your Gravity is a new vehicle, it's under warranty, and a Lucid service center should diagnose and repair this. They have the specialized tools to perform leak tests, check compressor function, and read specific diagnostic trouble codes from the SCM.
