Vehicle: 2025 Lucid Air Pure

Hi all,

My 2025 Lucid Air Pure is having issues with its climate control system. It's been inconsistent lately; sometimes only hot air comes out when I want cooling, and other times it just doesn't seem to cool effectively, even on max AC. There are no strange smells or loud noises coming from the vents.

I've tried adjusting all the settings on the screen, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. It's getting frustrating, especially with the changing weather. Has anyone with a newer Lucid Air experienced similar HVAC problems? What should I be looking for?

ClearTheCode admin answer:

Inconsistent climate control in your 2025 Lucid Air Pure can stem from several common issues. Modern EV HVAC systems are quite sophisticated, integrating electric compressors and advanced control modules.

  1. Cabin Air Filter: A clogged cabin air filter can significantly restrict airflow, making your HVAC system work harder and appear less effective. This is a common and easy-to-check item.
  2. Blend Door Actuator: These small motors control flaps that mix hot and cold air to achieve your desired temperature. If an actuator fails or gets stuck, you might only get hot or cold air, regardless of your settings. This often doesn't produce an OBD code visible to basic scanners but can be diagnosed by a technician.
  3. Refrigerant Level: For cooling issues, a low refrigerant charge in the AC system is a primary suspect. Leaks can occur over time, reducing cooling efficiency. This will require professional servicing to diagnose and recharge.
  4. HVAC Sensors: Temperature sensors (both inside and outside the cabin) provide crucial data to the climate control module. A faulty sensor can lead to incorrect temperature regulation.
  5. Software Glitch: As with many vehicle systems, a software bug can sometimes cause erratic behavior in the HVAC. Ensuring your vehicle's software is up-to-date is always a good first step.
  6. Compressor or Condenser Issue: Less common in newer vehicles, but an issue with the electric AC compressor or condenser could impact cooling performance.

When to See a Shop: If checking and potentially replacing the cabin air filter doesn't resolve the issue, or if you experience persistent problems like only hot air, no cooling, or unusual noises from the HVAC system, it's best to schedule a service appointment with Lucid. They can connect to the vehicle's diagnostic port to read specific B-codes (Body codes) related to the HVAC system, such as those indicating blend door actuator faults, sensor malfunctions, or refrigerant pressure issues. Early diagnosis can prevent further complications.
