Hey everyone, I'm getting a really concerning loud ticking noise from the engine of my 2017 Mercedes-Benz C300, 4MATIC. It's most noticeable when the engine is cold, but it doesn't completely go away once it warms up. It sounds like it's coming from the top or front of the engine.

I've read a bit online about potential wrist pin or piston issues with the M274 engine. Is this a known problem for these cars? My car has about 70,000 miles on it, and I've been pretty diligent with oil changes and maintenance.

Has anyone else experienced this? What was the diagnosis and fix? I'm worried this could be a major repair.

  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
