Hey everyone, I've got a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GT with about 70,000 miles on it. Lately, I've noticed a significant drop in my electric-only range. I used to get around 22 miles, but now it's closer to 15-16 miles on a full charge.

Also, charging seems to take longer than it used to, both at home on Level 2 and at public chargers. I'm wondering if this is normal battery degradation or if there might be an underlying issue.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems with their Outlander PHEV? Any tips on diagnostics or what I should check before taking it to the dealer?

Summary: For 2018 Outlander PHEV - Reduced EV Range & Slow Charging, work through these steps on your 2016+ vehicle:

  1. Confirm the symptom — note when it happens (cold start, highway, after fuel fill, etc.).
  2. Scan codes — save all pending/stored DTCs; don't clear until you've recorded them.
  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
  5. Test the common fix — follow model-specific service procedures; one change at a time.
  6. Escalate if needed — burning smell, no brakes, overheating, or stalling in traffic → shop visit.
