2020 Outlander SEL - Battery Draining Overnight After New Battery

Hey everyone,

I'm having a super frustrating issue with my 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL. The battery keeps dying overnight, even after I just replaced it with a brand new one a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was just an old battery, but clearly, there's something else going on.

It starts fine in the morning, but if it sits for more than 8-10 hours, it's completely dead. No lights left on, doors are closed properly, nothing obvious. I'm worried about getting stranded.

Has anyone experienced a parasitic draw or similar issue with their Outlander? What should I be looking for? Any common culprits in these models?

Summary: For 2020 Outlander SEL - Battery Draining Overnight After New Battery, work through these steps on your 2015+ vehicle:

  1. Confirm the symptom — note when it happens (cold start, highway, after fuel fill, etc.).
  2. Scan codes — save all pending/stored DTCs; don't clear until you've recorded them.
  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
  5. Test the common fix — follow model-specific service procedures; one change at a time.
  6. Escalate if needed — burning smell, no brakes, overheating, or stalling in traffic → shop visit.
