Vehicle: 2017 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL
My 2017 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL just threw a Check Engine Light. I scanned it with my OBD-II reader, and it's showing a P0420 code: "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)".
The car seems to be driving fine, no noticeable loss of power or strange noises. I've heard this could be a bad O2 sensor or the catalytic converter itself.
What's the most common culprit for this code on Altimas of this generation? Is there anything I can check myself before taking it to a mechanic? I'm trying to avoid an expensive repair if possible.
