Front End Clunking Noise on 2018 Ram 1500 Over Bumps

Hey everyone,

I've got a 2018 Ram 1500 Laramie with about 75,000 miles on it, and I've started noticing a distinct clunking noise coming from the front end. It's most noticeable when I go over speed bumps or uneven pavement at low speeds. It sounds like something is loose.

It's not constant, but definitely happens every time I hit a bump. I've tried bouncing the front end myself, but can't replicate it without driving. The steering feels okay, no major pulling, but the noise is concerning. Has anyone experienced this with their Ram 1500? What should I be looking for?

  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
  5. Test the common fix — follow model-specific service procedures; one change at a time.
  6. Escalate if needed — burning smell, no brakes, overheating, or stalling in traffic → shop visit.
