2023 R1T Charging Slow or Stopping Early - Any Ideas?

Hey everyone,

I'm having a really frustrating issue with my 2023 Rivian R1T, Adventure trim. Lately, it's been charging incredibly slowly, or sometimes just stops charging altogether after a short period. This happens both at my home Level 2 charger and at public DC fast chargers.

I've tried different charging cables and even a different public charger, but the problem persists. Sometimes I get a 'Charging System Fault' message on the dash, but it clears itself after a while. It's making it really hard to rely on my truck for longer trips.

Has anyone else experienced this with their R1T? Any tips or things I should check before taking it into service? I'm hoping it's something simple I'm overlooking.

  1. Confirm the symptom — note when it happens (cold start, highway, after fuel fill, etc.).

  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
  5. Test the common fix — follow model-specific service procedures; one change at a time.
  6. Escalate if needed — burning smell, no brakes, overheating, or stalling in traffic → shop visit.
