Hey everyone,
I've got a 2018 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium with about 75,000 miles on it, and lately, I've noticed a distinct shudder or vibration when accelerating from a stop or at very low speeds. It's most prominent when the engine is cold, but it can happen even when warmed up. It feels like the transmission is struggling to engage smoothly.
I've heard some things about Subaru CVTs, but I'm not sure if this is just characteristic of the transmission or if it's a sign of a developing problem. There's no check engine light on, and no other warning lights. The car otherwise drives fine once it's up to speed.
Has anyone else experienced this with their Outback or other Subaru models? Should I be concerned, or is this just how these CVTs behave sometimes? Any advice on what to check or mention to the dealership would be greatly appreciated.
