Significant Range Loss on my 2018 Model 3 - Is this normal battery degradation?

Hey everyone, I've had my 2018 Tesla Model 3 Long Range for about five years now, and I'm noticing a pretty significant drop in my maximum range. When I first got it, I could easily get over 300 miles on a full charge, but now it's struggling to hit 250, even with careful driving and charging habits.

I usually charge to 80-90% and only supercharge occasionally. I've tried recalibrating the battery by draining it low and charging to 100%, but it hasn't made much difference. Is this level of degradation typical for a Model 3 of this age, or should I be concerned about a potential battery issue? Any tips on how to check battery health more accurately or what steps I should take?

Summary: For Significant Range Loss on my 2018 Model 3 - Is this normal battery degradation?, work through these steps on your 2016+ vehicle:

  1. Confirm the symptom — note when it happens (cold start, highway, after fuel fill, etc.).
  2. Scan codes — save all pending/stored DTCs; don't clear until you've recorded them.
  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
  5. Test the common fix — follow model-specific service procedures; one change at a time.
  6. Escalate if needed — burning smell, no brakes, overheating, or stalling in traffic → shop visit.
