2018 Camry Transmission Fluid Change - Dealership vs. DIY?

My 2018 Toyota Camry SE just hit 75,000 miles, and I'm wondering about the transmission fluid. The owner's manual says "lifetime" for some fluids, but I've heard that's not always true. I'm starting to feel a slight hesitation sometimes when shifting, nothing major yet.

Should I get the transmission fluid changed? If so, is this something I can tackle myself with a drain and fill, or is it better left to the dealership because of specific fluid types or procedures? I've done oil changes before, but never transmission.

Summary: For 2018 Camry Transmission Fluid Change - Dealership vs. DIY?, work through these steps on your 2015+ vehicle:

  1. Confirm the symptom — note when it happens (cold start, highway, after fuel fill, etc.).
  2. Scan codes — save all pending/stored DTCs; don't clear until you've recorded them.
  3. Check TSBs & recalls — look up your VIN for open campaigns and known fixes.
  4. Inspect the obvious — related fuses, connectors, fluid level, and recent repairs.
  5. Test the common fix — follow model-specific service procedures; one change at a time.
  6. Escalate if needed — burning smell, no brakes, overheating, or stalling in traffic → shop visit.
